New playable race

The Skyborne

Elves who came from the sky, the only race in Forever that can join either the Alliance or the Horde. The French version also calls them Éolides.

Where do they come from?

The Skyborne descend from an ancient line of elves who took refuge for millennia in the sky realms of the air elementals. Cut off from the world, they took up the magic of the winds.

Their homeland is Zephras Isle, one of Forever's new zones. Every Skyborne begins the adventure there, in the village of Thendal, each faction in its own version of the zone.

Two orders, two factions

The choice is made at character creation. It decides which classes are open and one of the racial abilities.

Alliance

High Order

Devoted to rediscovering lost arcane knowledge.

Classes: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Warrior

Horde

Windshapers

Spiritual guides of their people, closest to the elementals.

Classes: Druid, Hunter, Shaman, Rogue, Warrior

Racial abilities

Names and effects read from the game files (version 1.60.1.70755). Two abilities depend on the faction, according to the beta; the others are shared by all Skyborne.

  • Read LeylineAlliance

    Cast 0.5 sec · Cooldown 2 min

    Attempt to tap into the power of a nearby leyline, increasing your Health and Mana regeneration by 50% for 15 sec. If a leyline is nearby, you will become Attuned for the next 1 hr and the effect of this ability will be increased by 100%.

  • Walk on Air

    Instant · Cooldown 1.5 min

    Glide downward through the air for 10 sec while controlling your direction of travel.

  • SkysightHorde

    Cast 0.5 sec · Cooldown 2 min

    Attempt to draw power from a convergence of elements and receive its blessing, increasing your movement and mounted movement speeds by 15% for 30 sec. If an elemental convergence is nearby, you will become Charged for the next 1 hr and the effect of this ability will be increased by 100%.

  • Elemental Insight

    Passive

    Damage dealt versus Elementals increased by 5%.

  • Wind Blessed

    Passive

    Increases your spellcasting, melee, and ranged Haste by 2%.

Leveling a Skyborne from 1 to 60

Start on Zephras Isle, then follow your faction's road, quest by quest, with NPCs and monsters on the map and your progress to tick. Pick your order and class:

How to play a Skyborne?

The race is not included with the subscription alone. It is unlocked with one of Forever's higher editions: the heroic pack, the epic pack, the Warcraft Forever collection or the collector's edition.

Without one of them, you cannot create a Skyborne character. The other races remain available with the subscription.
