WoW Forever: first hotfixes fix quest NPCs and the Zephras Isle druid trainer

The day after launch, Blizzard rolled out a first batch of hotfixes for WoW: Forever. Some quest NPCs now respawn faster, a druid trainer on Zephras Isle finally works and two battleground issues have been sorted out.

The game launched on 5 November, and the first hotfixes followed right behind. Wowhead published the full list overnight. Nothing spectacular, but several fixes will be a relief for anyone who has spent hours going round in circles waiting for an NPC.

I'm a druid on Zephras, can I finally train?

Yes. On Zephras Isle, Lotheluum Starbreeze, the zone's third druid trainer, wasn't teaching his spells as intended. That's fixed: he now offers training normally.

Another tweak on the island: the trade supplies vendors weren't selling apprentice bags for professions. They're now available. Handy for storing herbs, ore and leather from the very first levels.

However, according to a player in the Wowhead comments, Brother Zendraas is apparently still missing on Zephras. Blizzard hasn't announced anything about it so far.

Which quest NPCs respawn faster?

This is the heart of this update. Several characters essential to quests were too scarce:

  • Deathstalker Erland: he now respawns much more often for the escort quest "Escorting Erland".
  • Yarrog Baneshadow, in Durotar: he was coming back more slowly than intended. Anyone hunting for the Burning Blade Medallion should have less of a wait.
  • Pelluk, in the Swamp of Sorrows: he sometimes didn't show up at all. The problem is fixed.

Conversely, some murlocs in Wetlands were respawning too quickly. Their spawn rate has been slowed down, which should make the zone a little less suffocating.

A small quest detail: some incorrect text has also been fixed in "The Sisterhood of Elune".

What's changing in PvP?

The Plainsrunning ability was causing two problems in battlegrounds:

  • it could stack during the preparation phase, before the gates opened;
  • it stayed active while carrying the flag.

Both exploits are gone. Plainsrunning no longer stacks, and its effects are cancelled as soon as a player picks up a flag. Flag carriers in a hurry will have to rely on something else to dash back to base.

And what about my wallet?

Just one economic change, and a tiny one: Mild Spices now sell to vendors for 1 copper, down from 2. If you were planning to build your fortune on them, it's time to rethink.

Are more hotfixes planned?

Wowhead says its list will be updated as new hotfixes arrive. The first days of a launch often bring several, and we'll follow the next ones here. If you're just starting out and wondering where to begin, our Getting Started guide is still the best way in.

Jobwow's take

There's no such thing as a launch without ghost NPCs, so seeing Blizzard fix Erland and Yarrog on the very first evening is a pretty good sign. Druids on Zephras can finally learn their spells instead of staring at a silent trainer, and apprentice bags arrive just as our bags are overflowing. Dropping Mild Spices to 1 copper, on the other hand, ruins my plan for a golden retirement in Orgrimmar. My advice: if a quest was blocking you yesterday, try it again before giving up, and keep an eye on the hotfix list, which is likely to grow.
